State of Arizona 100 Years
February 14th, 2012

The week of February 13 - 19, 2012 has been designated as the K7UGA Special Event Station Operation in celebration of Arizona 100th Birthday. All members of CADXA will have the opportunity to participate by putting your home station on the air using the Call - K7UGA. You may want to open up your station to others and operate as a multi/single for a few days, if that sounds like a good idea for you.

If you want to operate during the week, here are a few guidelines:

A) Operating dates are February 13, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19. (Monday, and Wednesday-Sunday) Tuesday the 14th has been set aside for operation by a single station in Prescott, in Tucson and in Phoenix. (Bud-N7CW, Jerry-W6XI and portable at the Goldwater Memorial, respectively)

B) Operating frequencies will be 160 thru 2 Meters. There are no specific frequency ranges assigned, but consider all General Class allocations, and also operate in those Frequency ranges available to your License Class. We have had excellent publicity for our SE throughout the US......Pile-ups will be huge!!!

C)  You MUST coordinate your operating TIME, BAND and MODE through one of the three "Mode" coordinators. Time/Band slots will be maintained in 3-Hour groups, with the intent of not having multiple "K7UGA" stations on the same Band/Mode at the same time.

D)  You must maintain a log of all contacts made using K7UGA. Any method that can be easily accumulated, summarized and sent to the coordinator. Make sure your logging is in GMT (UTC). I'll need the logs within a week or so for QSLing purposes. We'll (I'll) get a ton of QSL requests. All logs will eventually go to LoTW. email logs in ADIF format to Bob K7BHM k7bhm@arrl.net

E) You can operate any and/or all Modes if you want. The only requirement is that you  coordinate wtih the Mode Coordinators before you go on the air. Feel free to spot yourself on DXSummit or Disciple or whatever spotting network you use, when you start operating. Spot K7UGA, by "your call."

F)  Be sure to check into the CADXA web-site where there will be 3 separate Microsoft Excel Spread Sheets (SSB, CW, Digital). These will be "READ ONLY" and in matrix format, showing Band and Frequencies still available for operating time slots. Select your open time periods and contact the specific Coordinator who will have the sheets updated immediately. If you contact them soon you can reserve specific days, mode, band and times.

G)  Refer stations to this web-site http://cadxa.org for QSL information or directly to K7BHM on http://QRZ.com. QSL Routing for K7UGA QSL requests go to: K7BHM - 1623 N. Los Altos Ct., Chandler, AZ 85224

H)  Ttake a few digital photos of people operating your radio station. We'll put together a short program for a future CADXA meeting and post them here in the CADXA web site.

Watch this web site for "Arizona Trivia," as well as "Goldwater Trivia" that you can use during your many QSO's.

Special Event Operations:

Our Special Event Operation has been approved by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission as an official Legacy Project, and by the 2012 Arizona Centennial Foundation as an Official Centennial Event.

The following three sites will be operating on Tuesday February 14th using HF

Tucson Arizona

Jerry (W6XI) will be operating from his home QTH in East Tucson, and will attempt to have several guest operators. Because of his antenna situation, Jerry will concentrate on the WARC bands during the day, and 40 Meters in the evening and night. Jerry will use K7UGA/Tucson to indicate his location.

Prescott Arizona

Bud (N7CW) will be operating from his home station in Prescott, and will make notice to the local Yavapai RC asking for guest operators. Bud will use K7UGA/Prescott to indicate his location. Bud has all band capabilities; but it does NOT matter if more than one K7UGA station is operating the same band/mode at the same time IF they use the "/" ID.

Paradise Valley (Phoenix) Arizona
Barry M. Goldwater Memorial
Tatum and Lincoln Drive

Bill (W7ZT) and Tom (NE7X) and Tom (K9CJM) will be operating from the Barry M. Goldwater Memorial Site in Paradise Valley. They will have two battery-operated stations on the air using Buddipole antennas. They will use K7UGA/Phoenix to indicate their location. They will operate on as many bands as possible that their Buddipoles will allow. (Just NOT on the same band at the same time). There will be two canopies with 6 ft. tables and 4 chairs for each and operations will shut down at dusk. Open invitations are being sent to many Arizona dignitaries from throughout Maricopa County to come and visit the site, and possibly make a few Q's of their own. The original Goldwater K7UGA Collins S-Line will be on display at this site.

Everyone is welcome to come and visit/operate at one of the three sites. We're going to have a lot of fun with this!!!!!!!

Thanks, and looking forward to an exciting week of Operations to celebrate the Arizona Centennial.
