K7UGA

The most famous ham in the Unites States for many, many years was Arizona's Senator Barry Goldwater, K7UGA.  Until his death in 1998, Barry was an Honorary Member of CADXA.  The club had the opportunity following Barry's passing to obtain his callsign from the FCC and make it the official callsign of CADXA.  In honoring Barry's memory, the club puts K7UGA on the air for special events every year or two and provides a memorial QSL card for stations that make contact with K7UGA and request a card.

About CADXA and K7UGA

CADXA

Since its inception in the summer of 1974, the Central Arizona DX Association (CADXA)  has been dedicated exclusively to the pursuit of DX, both talking to distant places on our radios as well as traveling there to operate our radios.  Over the past 40+ years, CADXA's members have helped set the pace for the DX community on an international scale.

Our monthly meetings feature programs about "DXpeditions" by our members as well as sharing the latest technical know-how to improve our radio stations.

Please explore our website to learn more about us and feel free to attend a meeting to meet us in person.  We will be happy to answer your questions and provide advice about best practices and resources.
